Extensive renovation and extension to an existing cottage including new garage building and pool building and pool, East Sussex.
The renovation of the existing dwelling and addition of side extensions has transformed this dark compartmented cottage into a largely open plan light and airy dwelling. The extension allows for the kitchen dining room to be opened out on to the external terrace by way of large sliding doors. The lounge and living room have been completely renovated to create comfortable living areas. The upstairs has been renovated and opened up to the rafters to allow for more light and space and the master bedroom features an impressively high fluted form finished in Tadelakt, a waterproof plaster with amazing depth and patina.
The project also involved the construction of a new garage building featuring a large photovoltaic array. The garage has a fold aside timber garage door. The building also comprises of a large workshop, living area and car port
The pool house was designed to complement the adjacent extension and allow for a guest bedroom, WC and changing area for the pool. The overhanging canopy allows for solar shading of the large sliding doors. The pool house also has houses the plant and another en-suite. The other works included the renovation of the existing pool, including waterproofing, tiling, edgings, motorised cover and cover pit.
