Conversion of an existing village hall into an energy efficient premises with much improved community facilities.
The old masonry built structure was over clad in a thick layer of timber fiber insulation and an outer skin of sweet chestnut rain screen cladding.
This building was our first carbon negative building. This was achieved by A a small scale wind turbine and a heat pump work efficiently together to make all the heating and electricity the building needs for its running with an excess to sell back to the grid. In its first year of running it made over £400 in electrical generating profit.
